A Mystical Reminder
Firehouse Show a Great Success!

With a sold out crowd, and great repore between band and audience The Mystix brought the house down at their July 3 Firehouse show.
"This was a really special gig for us." said lead vocalist Jo Lily. ""We always love playing in Newburyport and can't wait to return in August for the Maudslay State Park Summer Arts Series.""
The buzz was that this was one of the best Mystix shows ever!
Here's what Newburyport had to say about The Mystix:
The band’s version of "Down to the Shore" is faithful to Lomax’s recording of Strothers, but it’s also rounded out by layers of impeccable sound from the Mystix and their guitars, drums, keyboard and back-up vocals. It’s an incredible balance between solid roots and lush new growth, and the reason why critics and bloggers are raving about the band.
One aspect of all the recent hype about the band that Lily will gladly chime in with is the notion that the Mystix are a supergroup...

CDs and MP3s are in stores now and available at CD Baby, Amazon, Napster and iTunes.

Great Review of New Album
The Mystix just got a great review of their new album "Down to the Shore," by Rick Massimo of The Providence Journal:
Mystix reach deep for groove, grace of electric roots
American roots outfit The Mystix play Chan's in Woonsocket Saturday night.
The Mystix have been together for three years, but the members have been getting around for the past few decades at least...
...And they do it with the relaxed, no-nonsense groove and grace of seasoned pros who know their way around the music; you can hear it in the authoritative swamp-pop groove of "Good Deal Lucille," the sweet slide guitar on the original "Roll of the Dice," the minor-key foreboding of "Gamblin' Man" and more.

As record sales continue to stay strong for their latest album, Blue Morning, RadioNY.org e-mailed to let The Mystix know that the Song "Yolanda" was in this week's broadcast. Here's the e-mail:
"We wanted to write to let you know that your song, Yolanda was included in The Independent Sound's episode 08. The response from listeners about the music on the broadcasts has been very positive and we wanted to write you this note to thank you directly for your contribution. The Mystix back at Tupelo!
The Mystix are very excited about coming back, for a second time, to Tupelo Music Hall. This extraordinary venue boasts an amazing sound system and draws nationally-recognized bands such as George Winston and Little Feat.
It's not just the Mystix who think this show should not be missed. Tupelo Music Hall Owner, Scott Hayward, thinks this show will be so good, he issued this challenge:
"Next week we have a great band from Boston named The Mystix. We had them a few months ago and, having never seen them play, I didn’t do a very good job recruiting folks to come out. This is a MUST SEE show! The band is incredible. They play everything from R&B rock. The musicians in The Mystix are some of the best in Boston.
If you don’t like the show we will refund your money on the way out. That’s our challenge to you."
Great Show at TCAN!
What a great show the Band had at TCAN this past weekend! The facility itself is really cool and the sound was very professional not to mention how nice everyone who works/volunteers for TCAN was. We had about 90 loyal fans and many new friends. The best part was when a fan Carlos, from Spain, showed up and had us sign CD's for loyal Mystix followers in Spain including his Dad, Louis. It's always a thrill to meet our European followers at a show here in the U.S. We keep refining the show and look forward to working Tupelo Hall (also one of our favorite venues) Friday, October 17. Best Regards to All! Jo Lilly & The Mystix

Give a shout out to our "tickler of the 88's", Tom West!
The Mystix wish to give some credit to our un-sung, new keyboardist Tom West. As anyone can tell you who has seen The Mystix of late, Tom has added a whole new dimension to their sound. He is an experienced keyboardist based in Boston, Tom has worked with many highly regarded musicians, including Peter Wolf, Benjamin Orr, Susan Tedeschi, Betty Harris, Duke Levine, and Billy Novick.
Tom West's recently released "Mixology" CD is a collection of diverse, original songs, recorded at Chris Rival's Middleville Studio, featuring a custom band of future renown.
You can purchase "Mixology" through CD BABY at this link: http://cdbaby.com/cd/tomwest. Tom also has a web page http://tomwestmusic.com which is going "under the knife" and will be updated with current information very soon.
The Mystix are eternally grateful to have such a talented individual as Tom in their group, the interaction and solos of Tom has expanded the horizons of the band's sound and they are looking forward to their upcoming endeavors together.

New article by Bill Copeland of The Boston Blues Society
The Boston-based band has a new CD, but they still like to keep it live and local
Music scene followers have been inundated with computerized, synthesized music for so long now that many are crying out for something as real as meat and potatoes with hot gravy.
A band of veteran musicians together for three years now are doing their part to provide local scenesters with some authentic down home rootsy music.
Boston Globe Article on Bobby Keyes
All play and plenty of work
From pop to hip-hop, Saugus guitarist Bobby Keyes is in demand
Nearly half a century after strumming his first chords in public at the Rainbow Lounge in Ipswich, this "Route 1 brat" is still rolling up and down the highway to gigs and sessions.
Guitarist Bobby Keyes lives in Salisbury, runs his recording studio in his native Saugus, and plays clubs all over Boston and the North Shore. Then there are the jaunts to Hollywood, where he writes and records with friends like pop star Robin Thicke.
The Mystix in studio working on new CD
Boston's Heavyweight Band, The Mystix, have been holed up for weeks in the studio, working on their new CD (title as yet undisclosed). This CD, their second, is being teed up for a September release.
Mystix leader Jo Lily, who penned most of the tunes on the upcoming album, says that the new release is coming along beautifully, under the able direction of Bobby Keyes.
